Legal actions to be initiated against Priya Saha: DMP chief

Bangla Tribune: A day after a member of the Hindu minority community, Priya Saha alleged to US President Donald Trump that 37 people in Bangladesh have become victims of disappearance, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said legal actions will be taken against her.
“The foreign ministry will issue a rejoinder… Priya Shaha would face legal action upon investigation,” he said on Saturday (Jul 20).
The DMP chief was speaking at a programme in Dhaka on Saturday (Jul 20).
Mia said, “Pariya Saha’s allegation is totally fabricated and baseless and her remarks is seditious and a part of international conspiracy.
“The home ministry has already begun the legal process to bring her under the law.
“It (Priya Saha’s activities) is an international conspiracy to hinder the ongoing development, advancement, democracy and sovereignty of Bangladesh,” he added.
Mentioning police provide adequate security to the members of the minority communities during their festivals including Ratha Jarta and Christmas Day, Mia said, “Police always stay vigil to prevent any attack on the minority communities.
“No incident of grabbing the minority people’ land by torturing has taken place in Bangladesh,” Mia said.
Claiming police have managed to subdue the fundamentalism, the police official said, “Where there are many problems like unemployment exists there will be crimes too.
“However, crime in the capital is under control and nothing to worry about security here,” Mia assured.

Priya Saha, a Bangladeshi national, participated in the Second Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom held at the US Department of State in Washington, DC from July 16-18.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen also attended the meeting.
Delegates from 106 countries, including about 40 foreign ministers, took part in the meeting at the invitation of Mike Pompeo, the US secretary of state.
A video clip, that later went viral on social media, showed Priya, one of the organizing secretaries of Bangladesh Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Oikya Parishad, pleading to Trump to save 18 million people of minority groups in Bangladesh from persecution.
She alleged that 37 million Hindus, Buddhists and Christians had disappeared from the country, persecuted at the hands of fundamentalist Muslims groups, who enjoyed political support.
