State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Friday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ensured communal harmony in Bangladesh by upholding the fundamental principles of the Constitution.
“That’s why the ongoing stream of development is augmenting the country to move ahead with the united effort of all,” the minister told the triennial conference of the Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya Parishad’s Singra upazila unit at the upazila parishad auditorium.
Speaking as the chief guest, Palak said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was killed to halt his march towards building a progressive and secular Bangladesh.
He said the members of Hindu, Buddhist and Christian communities were deprived of their civil rights after the assassination of Bangabandhu in 1975.
Awami League formed the government in 2008 under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina and started working to build an inequity-free country putting emphasis on secularism, one of the fundamental principles of the country’s Constitution, Palak said.
Chaired by convener of Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya Parishad’s Singra upazila unit Shital Kumar Sarkar, the conference was addressed by Natore municipality mayor Uma Chowdhury Joli, Singra upazila nirbahi officer SM Samirul Islam and Singra municipality mayor Jannatul Ferdous among others.
