Deshmāsam: The Party That The BJP Said Was A Bangladeshi Supporter, Its Muslim MLA Took The Oath In Sanskrit, Said – This Is The Mother Of All Languages

Deshmāsam: The party that the BJP said was a Bangladeshi supporter, its Muslim MLA took the oath in Sanskrit, said – this is the mother of all languages

The first session of the newly elected assembly of Assam began on Friday with some MLAs of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party taking oath in Sanskrit. But the opposition All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA from Sonai did something that surprised everyone. The MLA of the party, termed as a ‘pro-Bangladeshi’ by the BJP, shocked many by taking an oath in Sanskrit. Barabhuiya is one of the 16 AIUDF MLAs who have been elected to the 126-member house this time. While his party MLAs took oath in Assamese and Bengali, it was rare to see a Muslim MLA taking oath in Sanskrit.

After taking the oath, Barabhuiya said, “Sanskrit is the mother of all languages. My mother tongue is Bengali. We live in a state where Assamese is the official language. Sanskrit is the mother tongue of all languages including Bengali and Assamese. Taking oath is special to me. There was a moment, because it was happening for the first time in life. I wanted to make it special, so I preferred to speak in the ancient language of my country. ” The MLA further said that my religion teaches me to respect my culture and also allows me to learn. I want to show people that India is a diverse country where unity is our strength. I do not think Sanskrit has anything to do with religion. This is an ancient Indian language and as an Indian I have great respect for this language.

Apart from Barabhuyan, seven more MLAs took oath in Sanskrit on Friday. Last year, Congress MLA from Bihar Shakeel Ahmed Khan surprised everyone by taking an oath in Sanskrit. He had said that he had taken an oath in Sanskrit to give a message to the society about unity in diversity of India. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, former Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia and jailed anti-CAA activist Akhil Gogoi were sworn in as members of Assam’s 15th Assembly on Friday.

As I undertake a new journey & take oath as an MLA, I wholeheartedly seek blessings from the people of Sonai & sheer guidance from the seniors. All the elected members were sworn in by Phani Bhushan Chaudhary, temporary assembly speaker and eight-time MLA. Sarma, Sonowal, Saikia, Gogoi and most other legislators took oath in Assamese language while many others took oath in Bangla language. Gogoi and CPI (M) MLA Manoranjan Talukdar took oath not in the name of God but in the name of integrity. The first session of the Legislative Assembly has been called to administer oaths to the legislators, which will last for three days. Governor Jagdish Mukhi will address the newly elected MLAs on Saturday.

Biswajit Daimari became the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly

BJP MLA Biswajit Daimari was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the 15th Assembly of Assam on Friday. Daimary filed the nomination in the Assembly Secretariat on Thursday in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP state unit president Ranjit Kumar Das. The Congress-AIUDF alliance did not field any candidate for the post of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. With no other contenders, the provisional assembly speaker Pani Bhushan Chaudhary declared Daimary as the Speaker and handed over the charge to him. The newly elected Speaker thanked everyone and said, “I am confident that I will be able to give a positive message on behalf of the House to the people of Assam.” All the MLAs will be able to speak here. I will give everyone an equal chance according to the rule. ”
