Eternity’s new podcast: ‘Run Like a Woman’ | The Paradise News

    February 5, 2022By Priya Saha
Eternity's new podcast: 'Run Like a Woman'

The first episode of this fresh podcast by Aussie Christian women will air next Thursday, February 3.

Run Like A Woman shines a light on the experiences of ordinary Australian Christian women, offering encouragement, connection and inspiration.

“I love the intimacy of a podcast. It can be taken into people’s most private places. It travels around the park as the owner of the device exercises. It is in the bathroom. The kitchen. The workspace. The garden. In bed!” enthuses Run Like A Woman’s co-host and co-producer Penny Mulvey, an accomplished radio and media professional, chair of Christian Media and Arts Australia and chief communications officer of Bible Society Australia.

Run Like a Woman aims to include a diversity of women – from different backgrounds, experiences, professions, denominations and places they call home. The episodes cover the breadth of women’s experiences – from teenage issues to motherhood, working life, retirement and everything in between.

“This is the foundation stone of Run Like A Woman. Listening and talking. Laughing and occasionally crying. Sharing successes and painful times. And always with God on the journey.” – Penny Mulvey

In the first season of Run Like a Woman, we chat to authors Justine Toh and Naomi Reed, cancelled artist Bindi Cole Chocka, heads of social justice organisations Melissa Lipsett and Clare Steele – and many more.

As well as sharing the stories of Christian women and the issues facing them – in their own lives, the lives of women around them and in the church – the podcast explores how their Christian faith has guided, sustained and grown them. Hence the name of our podcast, inspired by the Bible verse 1 Corinthians 9:13: “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”

“Why a podcast featuring Christian women? It seems the perfect fit!” says Mulvey. “We worship a God who knows us intimately. Women tend to go deep and share life’s joys and challenges in very different ways to men. And we love a great conversation. This is the foundation stone of Run Like A Woman. Listening and talking. Laughing and occasionally crying. Sharing successes and painful times. And always with God on the journey. What a thrill to be co-hosting this podcast. I look forward to you joining in as you do your own life with your device attached.”

Alongside Penny as co-host and producer is Eternity’s senior journalist, Rebecca Abbott. The podcast will be edited and co-produced by experienced podcast and video editor Bella Ann Sanchez.

“Hearing raw, honest stories from other Christian women is a truly powerful thing.” – Bella Ann Sanchez

“I find as I listen to the podcast more than once – which I must do through the production and final editing stages – that there is always something that moves me and speaks to my heart in each episode,” says Sanchez.

“Hearing raw, honest stories from other Christian women is a truly powerful thing. Even if their experience is different to mine, I have found it relatable and often healing as it resonates with me for a long time afterwards. It has been a privilege to produce, edit and ultimately ‘listen-in’ on their lives.”

Run Like a Woman is part of the Eternity Podcast Network’s established suite of podcasts, which thousands of listeners tune into every week. As part of the Bible Society Australia family, the Eternity Podcast Network is committed to making well-produced, biblically informed podcasts that inspire and inform our listeners.

Keep an eye (and an ear) out on Eternity‘s website, Facebook and Instagram for the first episode of Run Like a Woman on Thursday, February 3 – and don’t forget to share the episode, and to rate, review and subscribe to the podcast.
