A wedding card circulating on social media shows a bride named P Mamata Banerjee will take seven rounds on June 13, 2021 with a groom named AM Socialism, the Hindu reported.
The family members of the couple have confirmed the authenticity of the invitation card.
According to reports, the groom AM Socialism is the son of A Mohan, Salem district secretary of Communist Party India (CPI). He contested in 2016 assembly election from the People’s Welfare Alliance.
Socialism is the third son of his father. Mohan named his other sons after the left ideologies as well. His first son is named Communism, the second Leninism. He named his grandson Marxism. All three will be present at the function, the Hindu reported.
“My father and grandfather are communists. From the age of 18, I started participating in protests organized by the CPI. Later, I became a full-time worker of the CPI. Due to the Soviet Union breaking up into many countries, many said communism is dead. This made me upset and even before my marriage I decided to name my sons or daughters in a way that reflects the ideology,” Mohan told the New Indian Express.
“When they were in school, my sons experienced some humiliation due to their names and many thought they were Christians. But after they entered college, their names attracted many. My first son Communism is a lawyer by profession and my second son Leninism and third son Socialism are running a silver anklet manufacturing unit in our home. All three are working for the CPI. Following my decision, my son Leninism also named my grandson Marxism,” said Mohan.
The Bride, P Mamata Banerjee is a close relative of Mohan’s family, according to reports. The bride comes from a family who is a staunch supporter of Congress. She was named after West Bengal chief minister when she was a member of the Congress.
