Former US Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard took to Twitter on Friday to flag the religious persecution of Hindu religious minorities of Bangladesh. Calling upon the world to work towards Islamist extremism, the former US presidential candidate also condemned the systematic murder, rape of Bengali Hindus by the Pakistani Army.
She tweeted a video in which she expressed concern over the plight of Hindus in Bangladesh since 191 and appealed to all world leaders to unite on the issue. She said that the world should face radical jihadists simultaneously.
“As a member of Congress, I introduced a resolution that called for the protection of Hindus and religious minorities in Bangladesh. People who continue to be targeted and persecuted to this day. The height of this persecution actually began 50 years ago, when the Pakistani army systematically murdered, raped and drove from their homes, millions of Bengali Hindus because of their religion and ethnicity,” Tulsi Gabbard said in the video.
She continued, “March 25th, 1971 was the beginning of a systematic targeting of Hindus in Bangladesh by the Pakistani military. It began in Hindu neighbourhoods and villages, first at Jagannath Hall, which was a Hindu dormitory in Dhaka University, where five to ten thousand people were killed on that first night alone. This genocidal campaign continued for 10 months, resulting in two to three million people killed. Hundreds of thousands of women and girls raped and more than 10 million forced to flee their homes.”

Tulsi Gabbard also recalled US Senator Ted Kennedy who observed the genocidal campaign against Hindus. She also said that the “Islamist persecution of Hindus and other religious minorities in Bangladesh did not end with Bangladesh’s independence”. She mentioned the recent attacks against Hindu Temples in Bangladesh in the wake of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the country.
Making her case, she finally appealed to the leaders of the US and other countries to observe corrective measures against such extremists whose ideology holds that all non-Muslims and other heretical Muslims need to be purged from the face of the earth. She warned that if timely measures are not taken then the jihadist would continue to spread terror throughout the world.
Earlier in an interview with Fox News, Tulsi Gabbard had linked “cancel culture” a term used to describe the backlash faced by people who say or do offensive things to extremist groups like Isis and Al Qaeda.
Minority Christians are also under attack by radical jihadists in Iran and Syria. At one time, there were 1.5 million Christians in Iraq and 3 million in Syria. Today, the Christian population in Iraq has shrunk to only three million, and in Syria to four and a half million.
Millions of minorities lived in Afghanistan. Today it has fallen a lot. Today, only one thousand Hindus survive in Afghanistan. Minorities make up only 1 percent of Afghanistan’s population.

Indian-American woman leader Tulsi Gabbard was the first Hindu to be elected in the US Congress. She also served as a reserve officer in the US Army. She became a Congresswoman from 2012 to 2021. Tulsi Gabbard was the vice president of the Democratic Party’s National Committee from 2013 to 2014. He introduced various bills to fight atrocities against minorities across the world and advocated for their protection. He ran in the Democratic nomination to run for the presidency from the Democratic Party. He withdrew his presidential nomination in March 2020, declaring his support for Biden. 8-year-old Tulsi Gabbard is one of the top leaders with the support of Asian-American voters.
