A two-day festival titled Matribhasha Utsab 2022 ended on the Jahangirnagar University campus on Monday.
JU unit of Bangladesh Students Union organised the festival titled Sakal Bhashar Saman Marzada.
On the first day of the festival, which began on February 27, a day-long exhibition displaying alphabets and paintings of different languages spoken by people of Bangladesh was organised at the
transport yard of the university.
A series of lectures titled Bhasha Matin Baktritamala-1 was held at the university’s new arts building.
Professor Rayhan Rhyne of JU philosophy department gave a lecture on the subject titled Oupanibeshik Samay Theke Bhashar Bartaman Abastha.
Professor Manosh Chowdhury of anthropology department also gave a lecture titled Bhashar Dushan.
Besides, cultural activist Dalia Chakma discussed on the topic titled Bhashar Rajniti.
On the concluding day of the event, a documentary on languages spoken by the ethnic minority
groups was screened at the Chobi Chatwar of the university.
Besides, education and research secretary of Dhaka University unit of Bangladesh Student Union Aziz Chowdhury, JU unit president Rakibul Rony and general secretary Tasbibul Gani Niloy, among others, participated in a discussion programme held on Monday evening.
The festival ended with a cultural programme featuring performances by the students belonging to different ethnic minority groups studying at Jahangirnagar University.
